beginning
in the 1930s . . .
International
Track Systems, Inc., was founded by innovator Nelson K. Moses
in Ashtabula, Ohio, and the company's first rubber tie pads were
placed under the tie plates of the Pennsylvania Railroad Station
in Akron, Ohio. Thus began a continuing trend for the use of
rubber for noise abatement and vibration attenuation.
moving
into the 1950s . . .
International
Track Systems, Inc. worked with the New York City Transit Authority
to develop a rubber rail seat which encapsulated the rail. This
was used on over 700 miles of both the subway and overhead rails
in New York City.
by the
1970s . . .
International
Track Systems, Inc. developed the masticated rubber tie pad which
replaced the SBR rubber pads used until that time. Masticated
rubber was much tougher material and allowed railroad maintenance
crews to drive spikes through without the worry of tearing the
material as in the past. This masticated rubber is used by most
railroads and transit systems to this day.
through
the 1990s . . .
International
Track Systems, Inc. was providing all types of rubber for countless
applications, and was also providing plastic products, including
high density polyethylene used in tie pads and shims for railroads
and transits. ITS is capable of producing this product to meet
any specification.
